Quality Paint and Coatings was founded in 1989 by Charles (Chuck) H. Nelson. Chuck, who specialized in auto body work, called his new company “Quality Auto Body”. One of the local companies in Oshkosh, seeing the expertise and craftsmanship of the work, hired Chuck and his “staff” to paint some of their show trucks. This was launching the direction for the future of Chuck’s then small business venture. In the early 1990s, the property at 2236 Clairville Road was purchased and remains one of our company’s present plant locations. With the new facility that housed one small paint booth, Quality Auto Body was doing auto body work as well as painting and coating for commercial vehicles including vac-alls and street sweepers. The dynamics of our company was transforming!
By the mid 1990s, preparation and coating applications began on concrete mixers, a steel building was added to the Clairville facility, and 2 large paint booths along with a main office area were built. This part of our facility is still referred to as the North Office. Commercial business continually increased, and Quality Auto Body broke ground on our first expansion program on the South Building.
Since then, several additions were made to the South Building, providing an axle booth with a retractable roof for an overhead crane system, a shipping and receiving area, more paint booths, conveyor paint lines, a dipping tank area, large bake oven areas, and more. The last building expansion program at Clairville brought our location’s area to about 33,000 square feet.
In 2002, the name of our corporation changed to C & C Nelson Enterprises, doing business as Quality Paint & Coatings. The plant was now totally concentrated on producing top-quality painting and coating for commercial and military vehicles, expanding into polyurethane applications, interior tank coatings and branching out into more forms of business. Year after year, we at QPC have added equipment, personnel and technology to meet the requirements of our increased demands.
In 2011 QPC established a technical services division providing mechanical assembly and disassembly operations in support of customer retrofit requirements.
Today, QPC has expanded again with a second location in Pickett, Wisconsin. With the addition of over 90,000 square feet of space, our new facility is home to the main offices of QPC and affords accommodations for future growth and progress.
